Wife's ring holder

The wife wanted me to make a ring holder for her – here’s what I came up with. Quartersawn white oak and ebonized maple. A coat of shellac under two coats of semigloss poly.

I really like your design, it is as classy as the rings it holds. great job.If I may ask, how is the body held off the base? Is it a mortise and tennon?

Thanks, woodnut. To create the space between the body and the base I simply glued a thin piece of wood smaller than the body between the two.
