I cut this from a burl that’s been sitting for some time. It was still a little damp,12%, and I decided to see if it would warp some as it finished drying which it did nicely. Just a lite cup developed to hold the items from rolling out. 2 hours of elbow grease and paste wax left a beautiful sheen. The burl was less apparent but the quilting made up for it. It measures about 10 on the long side and 7/8 thick. I was pleased with the way the elm base looked. I usually use a contrasting wood or a piece that doesn’t detract from the main show.

It sure shows a lot of beauty Tim. I know a burl like that looks much better than it does in the picture. Sounds like you’re getting ready for another show. Good luck. I haven’t tried any of that Elm from you yet, it still needs some dry time.
