This is a very special commissioned piece.

A couple of months ago my Father asked me to create this as a gift from him to my Mother for her birthday, which is today. Since Mom also views this forum I wasn’t able to post this project until today for obvious reasons ;-)

Piece measures approx. 5×7 inches and is about 1/8 inches thick. It is solid rock maple.

Only treatment is a quick soak in lemon oil.

Only real challenge with this piece is the amount of individual blade threading – I have gained a LOT of respect for you folks that do a lot of fretwork. It is quite tedious loosening the blade, threading the blade, tightening the blade, making a three second cut – then repeating the entire process over and over! :-)

I still find a lot of relaxation in it though.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!

good job. the more scroll work you do the less you notice all the drilling and loosing/tightning the blade
