Each year our friends invite us to their mountain cabin for a weekend getaway and to cut christmas trees. This year instead of taking a bottle of wine or some other meaningless present, I decided to build them something for the cabin. This bird feeder seemed to be the perfect gift since they love the birds/squirrels/chipmunks and other wildlife found in the NC mountains.
The wood is oak I salvaged from an old fence. It had too many checks to be used for furniture, but seemed fitting for a bird feeder. I followed a plan purchased from Meisel woodworking. The project was simple enough for me to finish in a couple weekends, but looked good enough to impress our friends.
Merry Christmas everyone!

I like that. Should make a great Christmas present, and not a bad price at all for a weekend in the cabin.

Great project! I hope the face doesn’t frighten the birds.

Nice work Rooster. You sure put that old piece of oak to good use. Merry Christmas to you as well.
