This is a clipboard approx. 385mm x 250mm x 5mm in size.

Its base is a 3mm sheet of birch ply veneered both sides.

Pic 1 Reverse side is a Louis Cube pattern of Ripple Sycamore, Sapele and American Black Walnut with a Sycamore border.

Pic 3 Front side of Ash

Pic 4 The materials. All re-used or left overs from earlier projects.

The finish is Yacht varnish. The glue is Titebond III.

The use of ‘me’ rather than ‘my’ in the title is intentional. That’s what they talk like were I was born.

This project is blogged here

Absolutely outstanding, Martyn. You are amazing! What a classy piece you made! This and the hypnotoad box are my favorites (so far) of all your beautiful work. Bravo!

Martyn, you are just exploding with these patterns. How about some tumbling block toilet tissue next? :-)

I would, Charlie but I’m afraid the points might be a bit rough on the old behind!

Charlie,
would tumbling block paper towels be more absorbant than quilted papertowels. I get to copywright the toilet tissue, and I will copywrite the papertowel. No worries Brit, we will share the royalties with you. Sharing is caring :)

Bright Colors, good suggestion :) Oops I meant Charlie gets the copywright on toilet tissue. I would not want to be responsible for the dizzying affects Brit’s work would have on someone sitting there and falling off. Just saying…

Even the front side is good looking… and Tumbling Blocks is one of me favourites.

fantastic martyn, i love how the sapele fades from dark red to light. with you, there’s no way that was a coincidence, hahah.

Martyn: Great piece of work/design.

BTW you may want to type the dimensions a little slower as people on this side of the pond are not metric inclined. :-))

Martyn – I have a big problem with that clip board!!!
It’s not ‘me’ne…
I love it! Would feel wonderful to stand and flash it a little while looking really clever, and taking some notes.
Best thoughts,
Mads

Excellent parquetry! Thanks for the blog Martyn. This will be a lifetime reference for future projects specially at night as it will not make any noise. Cheers.

That’s clever MAFE!
I must admit, I was not as courageous to follow Martyn’s blog as he is mine…today, that is.
Just as gorgeous as the rest of your out-of-this-world creations!
