This mirror was made for my parents when they redid their guest bathroom. The frame is solid jatoba from reclaimed floor boards and the finish is catalyzed varnish.

This is certainly a nice looking mirror that you built for your parents. I am sure they love it. Brazillian cherry is such a gorgeous wood and fairly easy to work with. But it is hard on sawblades due to its high silica content.

Thanks guys!

Jatoba/Brazillian cherry is definitely one of my fave woods. I lucked out years ago when a friend gave me a truck load of flooring that was being discarded where he worked. Other woods were in the lift as well, but mostly jatoba. Cool grain patterns, rich colour, durable but a bear to machine at times and yes hard on blades. I often use a scraping plane in the finishing stages as the grain is often interlocking as well.
