Finger Jointed Box

When updating their guest bathroom, my parents chose to install less cabinetry. Instead of under the counter cabinets they asked me to make a nice box to hold tp and other bathroom sundries.

The wood is jatoba from my reclaimed flooring stash. The box sides were made in my usual way by gluing up strips jointed using a Freud Glue Line blade on my table saw. The finger joints were done on my router table and the bottom is a solid floating panel. The feet are patinated brass shelf pins from Lee Valley and the finish is wiping varnish.

Now I just have to finish the rest of the trim around the counter…

I love the box joint. I made some last weekend and I love doing it. Neat idea.
