Still need some finishing touch.

Gotta say that’s one nice looking router plane.
I found a Type 8 through the Bay earlier this year.
Was wondering how you restored the metal base?

The best way i found is Evaporust :

https://www.amazon.com/Evapo-Rust-ER012-Original-Super-Remover/dp/B00M0TLQ66/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1527784618&sr=8-2&keywords=evaporust

Just let it soak for a few hour them take it a part and re-soak as long as needed. Brush time to time to help the process. Rinse under water, dry in oven at 350 for 15 minutes (that will remove water from the taped holes) and brush with 8” wheel.

Thanks Mambrax!!
I will try it and post my results.
Living here close to the coast…...
I’ll probably be using the Evaporust on more than just the router plane.
