Here is a pinewood derby car built to look fast but be the opposite. There was a race challenge to build the slowest car.The other part of the race was it had to make it to the finish line. So I found a toy car with a friction motor, removed the motor than mounted wheels to iit.I did not have time to test it out so needless to say I did not win but it was fun to buld.

A friction motor…that’s an interesting take on a “turtle” race. One of my ideas relied on magnets using the counter-EMF principal, but that race did not allow magnets, so that idea go tossed. Did it actually make it to the finish line?

They said it did not make it.I think it needed more weight to get it started a bit faster to make it to the end. I had no time to test try it out. It was a 13th car of a one car a month build/one race a month year. They added the race twards the end of the year. Even a slow race I can’t win.
