This was my first attempt at making some wooden gears. What does this do you ask? I dunno – nothing. haha…but it was fun to make! the 2nd video with the 3 gears did not work as well….that last gear is just too small – plus i did not sand these very well so they did not “slide” very well. But for my first try, i am proud of them, and i can’t wait to make something more complex and that actually does something!!

That’s cool! Maybe you can try your hand at automata toys!

Certainly they do something! I could play with them for hours on end! .....Never mind the “Small minds etc etc…LOL….

Videos work fine for me. Even the one with the “Ghosts” flying around on the Ceiling Fan Blades.

OH! OH! You could put something on the bottom, Make up a “Treatment” type name for them, place them on your Patients Back, or Butt…LOL.. crank them for 5 minutes and charge $27.50 for the treatement.

I’ll give you my address later for my 25% ....OKAY! 15%.

I have a couple gears in my transmission that need to be replaced, Can you help me out :) Nice job on the gears. Different size gears in different woods would also look cool.

Nicely Done. The automata idea would be fun or just a board of these in different woods to sit on your desk and play with.

I’ll second the wand video. Great job.

Cool, I have never tried gears before.
I have been thinking of building a wind powered machine that will play a tune – a different type of wind chime.

Hmmm, maybe it could power a …....................TV !!
Yes, yes, you could cut your hydro bill in half by constantly turning that wooden gear while watching Dr. Oz. Okay, now we`re going to need an outlet, copper wire, hmmm. I`ll be right back.

I’m not sure why but I love this. I’m going up to the shop this afternoon. I was going to work on some toys and some wooden boxes but if I could build these I would really enjoy them.

I’ve been meaning to make a Rope Machine that uses gears like this ( http://www.mkdrafting.com/Rope_maker.htm ). How did you cut them out and sand them? Is there a trick to making them run smoothly?
