The wife wanted a box to sit on the counter and hold various stuff. She wanted it out of padauk and maple. I decided to go with a little walnut to break it up a little. It came out a bit too busy but overall it works for her. As you can see in the pics the padauk really changed colors when I oiled it. The top and the sides came from different boards, and I wasn’t expecting that much color difference. The box joints were done with the incra ibox. It was the first time I have used a flush trim router bit to trim a box lid.

The contrast with the woods while busy to some I think really accent the craftsmanship. Nice work!
