Project Information
I build this bench last year. I have a woodworking vise, but wanted this to be all wood. The bench has no screws, glue or nails. All M&T and dovetails with dowels locking everything in place.
One thing that prevents me from doing more is not having a convenient way to secure work. I looked at several methods, but couldn't settle on one. I made two different benchtop moxons, one is now the rails for this built in. The others I made by laying two long pipe clamps across the bench with two 2×6's on one side. I'll put up a pic of that later, I think some people might be interested in how I do that.
One concern I had because of tiny work space is having the vise stick out too much. I'm very happy with this low profile when not in use.
It needs a bit of refining, like the pins that retain the rails. Also my jaw is coming apart so I need to make another with a better piece of scrap. All in all though, I'm quite happy with it.
Thanks to to TimberAnew, seeing his new benchtop version gave me the push to get this done finally.
