Mother's day boards

Just a couple cutting boards I made for my wife for mother’s day to go with our new kitchen. Our biggest problem with curring boards is mixing vegetables and fruits on the same board. The result is watermelon that has a garlic taste or banana pancakes that also have onion flavoring. To solve that I engraved each one for easy identification.

Woods used were maple, Walnut, padauk, and a few strips of ambrosia maple. Finished with butcher block oil and beeswax.

The last picture is of the new kitchen. I still have some minor details to take care of (trim, etc.) but a majority of the work is done and it’s functional, so we are happy. Eventually I’ll get a blog going of the full renovation.

Thanks for looking, and happy mother’s day to all of the lovely ladies who put up with all the sawdust.

Tooch, what a nice set of cutting boards. The squiggle on each side makes the lettering work and blend with the design. Great call and great eye. These are really eye-pleasers.
The kitchen is beautiful. It looks a little stark now, but that will change. Great work, great design, great problem fix. Thanks for sharing.

Nice looking boards. Garlic watermelon? You may have ruined my day. Haha Beautiful way to seperate the two.

These are so nice! You noted that you engraved the wording…very interested in how you did that as it looks great!

thanks Tony, Jim, Bill, & Charles,

thanks Hoss, its been a long long long long couple months going through the renovation, but she is happy now so that is all worth it.

Al its funny how something so simple like the same font and a couple extra lines can keep unity throughout multiple projects with a variety of layouts. The kitchen is starting to fill in now… we added coffee pot, toaster oven, utensil holders and fruit baskets to the counter tops so its starting to look “lived in”.

Dave you have no idea…. and don’t get me started on what the cantaloupe used to taste like!

BB1 I used a Versa Laser engraver for the lettering with CorelDraw design software. If you get a second to peruse my projects, you can see I sure try to get the most out of it!

Beautiful stripes and very good idea to separate boards by use.

Neat job on all.

ONLY 1 BIG problem; you created an UN-ENDING “honey-DO! ” List.
