Talked myself into it! Made 3 hinges; 2 for use and 1 for set-ups. Not too bad. OK, now a box to show them off. A little walnut, maple and spalted for the top. Not bad. OK, now a way to open. Looked around and in the scrap cutoffs and sawdust there was the set-up hinge just begging “don’t throw me in the trash”. Ah, what the heck. Glue it at 90 degrees. Instant handle!!
If I’m going to show off hinges 3 is better than 2.
I will get better at these things.
I really do take lousy pictures.
Thanks for viewing.

Love it. Making your own hinges removes the possibility of spoiling a great job with poor ironmongery. Excellent work.

You did a great job on your hinges. Your fishtail ends are a good solution to the squared ends that most wood hinges have

Great looking hinges. I think I am going to have to try makings some boxes after seeing all the great boxes here.

Nice box,
Loke the way you did the hinges.
Why worry about the photos, your woodworking is tops :)

That is too cool. Great idea – I would have never thought of the wooden hinges, let alone the nice flowing design.
