Looks like the “Golden Ration” (see http://goldennumber.net/) ‘Phi’ divider/caliper. Very nice one I might add! Bamboo would make a real nice one due to its inherit stability and resistance to shrinkage, expansion and warping.I’m going to look for some for a Phi gauge of my own.

Nicely done. Someone at goldennumber.net is selling a steel gauge for $250 or so, so for woodworkers this is the way to go!

I use one of these when I do lay outs on my bowls. I did my first Hollow Form and was really please with the results.
Here is a pretty good demo of the tool
