Brandon needed a desk that would fit someone his size 6ft 6inches. This is not an easy task, as everything is built for frames around 6 ft. He had an idea of what he wanted, and asked if we could build one. He had little woodworking experience, but was anxious to learn.

He had a hand in building every part of the desk, the only problem was he did not live in San Antonio and had to commute to work on the desk. He learned how to build Drawers, casework, routing, and table saw techniques, sanding lots of sanding, and trimming out a project. He also learned how to finish the project, and best of all he learned the pride one has in building something from idea to final product. Another good lesson was that you cannot rush a project, you need to take the time to do it right, and to think out what you want the end product to look like.

It was a job well done; it was exactly what he envisioned before we started. I am proud of Brandon, he did great work. By the way he is my Daughters boyfriend.

Son in law now, a welcome addition to the family.

It looks a lot like those old desks from the 40’s and 50’s that you still see in service today. Looks like it will last a lifetime at least.

Great piece of woodworking James. If that’s you in the second pic with Brandon, maybe a set of desks to these proportions would have been in order… or call the Spurs up and get a production run going! Nice job and thanks for posting.
