A Wooden Mask

I do not pretend to be a typical, ordinary woodworker. Most of my projects are pieces of art, comprised of wood and combined with other media as appropriate.

This particular project was a gift, and is essentially a traditional hand-held mask. The mask is carved from white maple, with ebony outlines around the eyes. The handle is made of white oak and padauk. The feathers are taken from a western bush grouse.

The case that holds the mask is made of leopard wood, with a velvet background. For some reason, the system here will not upload vertical pictures, so the case is, unfortunately, cropped on the top and bottom.
