September, 2010—I’m still having fun gluing up scraps and turning them into boxes. Some of these scraps are left over cut-offs from previous projects made from re-used pallet wood. So in a way, these boxes are made from scrap from scrap!

What makes these a little different from my previous boxes are the curved tops. The curves are rather subtle, but I think make these boxes a little more refined. Nail holes from pallet scraps have been filled, as you can see in the photos.

These are made on the band saw. The cores of these boxes will probably get glued up into blanks for other boxes. Both are finished in tung oil.

Art, after recently getting my band saw tuned up and a new blade, I’m going to try a band saw box in the very near future. Always good to see another woodworkers efforts before jumping in. The fact that you did them with scraps of scraps makes them that much better. I especially like the one on the left where the pieces are most dramatic. Thanks for sharing these little beauts with us.

What cool boxes! And to think that they are made from scrap of scraps – very cool, indeed! I don’t have the luxury of a bandsaw yet but hope to get one sometime in the near future. I’m eager to delve into the band sawn boxes, too.

Thanks for posting. Great job!
