Every thanksgiving my family has a family auction at our get together. The items are bid on and purchased by other family members (75 or so) and the money collected is donated in the name of my Grammy to St. Jude’s hospital. This last year I made a box made out of the reclaimed pine from a tongue and groove wall that was taken out of her old house some 30 years ago. The size of the box was limited by the lid which is one piece of the board I used. I tried to not sand it too much because I liked the old finish the board still had on it. I was happy to bring an old piece of family history back to life.

I love how you took a piece of your Grammy’s history and made it in to something that will live on and benefit children in her name. Super special and beautiful box!!!

Really nice with all the thoughts that go along with things of this nature. Wish I could get some of the old wood from my ancestors. Yours is a real nice tradition. I am the last of large old family. Very nice wonderful box.

Really nice Tom! Knowing the wood has a history makes it all the more special. Great detail on this beautiful box!
