Mother’s day is quickly arriving, and at our house that means that my wife and mother-in-law are planting flowers. To help I created this fold-up potting bench made from pine shipping crates.

Once the wood was cut to size the top was laid out to allow spaces for the dirt and water to fall through.

The side frames were assembled using pocket screws.

The fold-up part comes from the use of galvanized hinges with the barrel mortised in.

Because of the condition of the wood, it too quite a bit of sanding to remove all the dirt, oil and permanent marker. Once that part was completed it received a couple coats of a bright blue paint.

Thanks for looking!
