I'm coming Ma!!!! I'm coming Ma!!!! I'm coming Ma!!!! Click the pictures to enlarge them

young caricature bear carved in catayba ?spelling? base is white pine from the lake shores of lake superior.

i saw a rought out from the Bishops, wonderful carvers. and since buying rought outs is beyond my means. i drew mine cut it out and did my own version. did not turn out as good as i wanted but it is cute an after all caricature carvings have their own attraction.

they are supposed to look funny. right?

any how enjoy him. and picture mama bear off in the woods calling her baby to lunch. and here is the baby running full tilt to get his share.

He’s perfect Pat, simply adorable. I remember the first time I every scultped anything from soap stone…My mom still has that orca I carved…she thinks it’s good, I think it sucks, she’s probably way more right then I am. He looks wonderful especially for it being your own creation. Keep at it.

Hello Pat;
—-yes, the bears have stolen the show!!!

In the second picture where you can spot the bears tongue, well my thought was that Mom just found a wild honey hive and this young cub has just gotten the scent. “Lookout Mom, I want some off that there honey to!”

We get bears around here in the spring and have to take the bird feeders off the porch and surrounding trees. In the past, I have had bears up on the porch going after the birdseed, and then later on find these bird feeders out in the woods. Sometimes I have watched them in our fields as Mom is busy eating wild blueberries, while the young cubs are often much more excited with just romping and playing. I also love to track bear and coyote, not to hunt, but just to learn from, ....exciting creatures these two are and they can tell us much about our own-selves by their habits.

Nice piece of wood art!!!
GODSPEED,
Frank
