This is the portable dance floor I built for my daughter’s wedding this past weekend. She had asked for just a plain floor without rails but I just couldn’t do that. It had to be at least a little special for my baby girl. The wedding was just before dark and it really looked cool with the lights shining thru the hearts, made it look like hearts were on the floor also.

The size is 10’ by 12’ and as you can see from the second picture, it’s portable. The floor has two main sections and then 2 pieces of plywood fill in the center after the two main pieces bolt together. The rails with all those darn hearts are a total of seven sections. I screwed them together in bundles of 4 and cut them out on the bandsaw. Everything on the rails was painted before it was put together. It only took about 20 minutes to put it up, if that long and about 15 minutes to take apart and load back up. The hardest part was loading it in the back of my truck by myself. I had help unloading and reloading but it is still in the back of my truck today. I’m waiting to decide what I’m going to do with it. A local wedding chapel has expressed interest in it to rent out and I thought about running it on Craig’s list. If I don’t sell it, I’m going to use the floor to build my grandkid’s a playhouse to play in when they come to Poppa’s. Last pictures are of my beautiful little girl and her new husband.

Neat idea. Would make a nice floor for a 10×12 playhouse.

Cool idea. Converting it to a playhouse is a great idea. Congrats to the married couple.

Dancing with Dad
Plang, you asked for it so you better not laugh!!!!!!!
Luckly, you really can’t see me. Notice, the heart shapes on the floor from the lights. That was unexpected, but she loved it.

Very nice! A smartly engineered solution that looks great. You can rent that thing out.
Beautiful bride! Congratulation!
