Project Information

A rehab of an old, broken down Plough plane. How old? Made in Cincinnati OH. back in the 1860s…
Handle had been broken off, fence had a split, as did one of the arms where it connected to the fence.

New, larger wedges were made from Walnut. Old wedges were worn out, and too small. A new fence was made from a scrap of Ash. Found a large block of Maple, and made a new handle. Skate was rusty. cleaned that up.

Body of the plane was made from Beech, and is original to the plane. A new 1/4" cutter had been made from an old chisel. One coat of Golden Oak stain, followed by a coat of amber shellac.

Set it up to plough a 1/4" groove a 1/4" in from an edge..

Shavings spiral out the right side in nice curls…

Just need to find the "match" plane….was part of a Tongue & Groove set of planes.
Thanks for looking in.
