Tried out my new used Jet jointer/planer today. Decided to make a cutting board. The woods used are walnut, red oak, poplar and the red strip I’m not sure what hard wood that was. It came from the scrap bin.

-- While teaching a class, a gentlemen once asked me: "When chip carving an intricate design, what do you do when you are almost finished and the wood breaks off?" I replied "Cover the kids ears."

The red stripe looks like padauk to me…
I like the way you used asymmetry.

I couldn’t agree more – I’ve found that if I try to make something symmetric, it only accentuates how imperfect my creations are. They tend to look a lot better when I plan to be less-than-perfect.

Cheers!
