Project Information

Last month after my old drill press broke down, I broke down and bought a new one (got the DP300L from Amazon, just a quick note here: if you have any college text books you don't need anymore see if they are buying them on Amazon it saved me a good amount). I am quite happy with my purchase and since it seems to have worked rather well on a few small projects I have given it I thought it was time to finally add a larger table and fence. The one I chose is very simple, made completely out of stuff I had in the shop. The wood was 3/4" plywood that came from those cabinets we got from a friend. The track I have had laying around for this and a router table for quite a while. It is bolted on and the fence was taken from the Woodsmith article online, with two pieces laminated together and a groove in each to postion the bolts. I think I should have gone with a smaller groove, but as the title says this is the first version and I plan to use it for a bit and decide how I can improve on it when I build a 2nd one.

I do not usally post pics of myself as there is generally no one to take the pic but since my daughter was in my shop working on the sand blocks, she picked up my camera and took the shot. At 4 she is getting very good with a camera. I hope to be able to teach her how to make frames and perhaps soon we will be able to frame some of her photos.

Thanks for looking.

Nice drill press table, you are going to love it.
I have been really happy for mine for now (you can see in my posts).
I think it's nice to get a face on people, so thank you for letteing the little one play with the camera.
Tell her that she is a good photographer, and that next time she must let you try, so we can see her also.
Best thoughts,

Thanks All.

Dennis, my preference is for landscape and nature pics and she is doing that as well. Those are the type I hope she will put in frames later. Course still need to make soem frames for the ones I have taken.

Mads, Thanks. Your table was one of them lately that had prompted me.

Chris, this looks like a nice improvement to your drill press. I have been meaning to replace mine and this one certainly gives me some ideas.

Very nice table! I'd make one improvement: Cut a hole in the center and insert a replaceable insert where the drill bit will go through.
