This is a paper light box that I made. The frame is made of air dried cherry. The joinery is a box joint with oversize fingers. This is my first box joint and I think it went pretty well, but the glue cleanup was a pain. I finished it with 4 coats of gloss spray lacquer but used 0000 steel wool between the last coat and after the last coat as well. It has a glass cover and there are 8 pieces of paper cut out with foam board in between. I followed this tutorial to make the paper part: https://creativityhero.com/diy-projects/how-to-create-a-3d-paper-cut-light-box-diy-project/

I used a remote control led light switch around the back perimeter. It works through the glass and paper so that is awesome.

This was my first time using cherry. I like it! Cuts nice and doesn’t tear up on the jointer and planer like “African mahogany” that I have been using for a while now. The wood was pretty cheap cause it had curled like a potato chip but the small pieces planed down fine.
