Project Information

This is a shoe bench I built for the foyer of our house. It was modeled after the shoe bench by Joe Dusel displayed at http://lumberjocks.com/projects/16314. It is made out of Baltic Birch plywood cut on a table saw at TechShop RDU in Raleigh, NC. My wife helped me finish it with 3 layers of Golden Oak Oil-Based Wood Stain by Zar and 2 layers of clear semi-gloss Minwax Fast-Drying Polyurethane. You can see more pictures of it in this Flickr set.

The third picture shows the stained baltic birch ends. The pieces that make the sides are joined using half lap joints. The top is made of two layers glued together with the bottom layer resting in a dado just like the shelves.

Nicely done. Watch out though I have found from experience when you put shows to rest in those things they tend to multiply and start spilling out.
