This is a small basket illusion platter made from soft maple. 7 1/2” in diameter. This was a fun pattern to make and relatively easy pattern to color with ink markers. 3 main colors (black, burnt orange, olive green) and some yellow in the center.

Very nice. I have been thinking about trying one of those but I am not sure that I have the patience for it.

Cool—help me out here—do you have a description on how you do this? Is it burning the lines with a burning pen and then coloring afterwards?

Chuck, yup that’s basically how it’s done. If your interested in the details there is a good video on YouTube by Harvey Meyer in which he shows and explains the process. Just search; “Harvey Meyer Basket Illusion Demonstration”.
