That’s nice! It looks sturdy, and obviously well balanced. The fiddleback is gorgeous.
I think I would have the most trouble cutting the hex shape. How did you do it?

It wasn’t difficult.
First, I turned a cone shape. Using the lathe index , I divided it into 6 sections.
I used a microplane to flatten each section.
I left it a little thick, and fine tuned the join after glue up.A lot of sanding to make it feel good and look good.
I’m happy with how it turned out. It will be a gift.
-- It must be jelly baby, cause jam don't shake like that...

Thanks for the explanation, Hairy! It makes sense, and it sounds like something even I could manage.
Without your tip, I would have spent hours, probably, at the table saw and still not got it right.
It will make a great gift!
