An old guy in the area who owns a sawmill came in with a 3’ long piece of this stuff. Beautiful birds eye elm. I happened to have this little desk to build for an elderly lady so I borrowed to board to show her. Needless to say she loved it. A deep rubbed tung oil finish really made that figure around all those little knots pop! God makes some great stuff!!

What a beautiful desk! I am sure she will love it! I love natural flecks on wood.

That’s a beautiful desk and beautiful wood and you did a great job in building it.

I love the birds eye pattern….I am always on the look out for birds eye in maple…birch’s, elm’s, burls…etc…etc…..they are the best woods for turning….all you have to do is expose the beautiful grain and half the battle is won…yes, indeed nature can put together some breathtaking beauty.

Greetings Rouge,

Stellar job on the desk…the beauty of the wood is in the eye of the beholder, just like a beautiful woman.

I really like the rails and stiles and panels. I like doing those types of jobs…it’s all in the details…..

The beauty of the wood was always there…...you just had to find it and bring it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
