Maple Burl Bowl

I turned 3 bowls today. A 10” Birdseye maple, an 11” butternut and this 11-1/2” x 4-1/2” maple burl. This was the nicest wood of the three. Finished in Dutch oil.

Great looking bowl! What a nice piece of burl. Would you post the pic of the butternut? I have some rejected gun blanks that are either white walnut or butternut. Are they the same?

This is the butternut bowl. I have never heard of white walnut being in eastern Canada. Here butternut is not called by any other name.

I would be surprised if your gun stalk material is butternut as it is very soft.
