So, I used to play a lot of hockey before life started to get in the way. Once you start paying a mortgage and having kids you have to let some stuff go. I came across a few of my hockey sticks the other day so I cut two of them up and make a novelty shelf for my son’s room. There’s really not much to it and it didn’t take much time but he loves it and that makes dad smile. The Islanders symbols is 1/4” Corian that I carved with my cnc router (see my projects). When you back light a lithopane they glow as you can see in the last picture. I used a blue LED night light in spirit of the Islanders colors. The shelf also doubles as his new night light too.
The assembly was pretty much gluing the pieces of the sticks together with 3/4” oak spacers in between. After that I cut a chamfer on the sides and applied 4 coats of clear lacquer. I used double sided foam tape to secure the plexi top.
The shelf is 16” wide and 5” deep. The lithopane is 5”x7”.
