This table was commissioned for the owner of a Mexican restauraunt; he wanted something rustic, spanish/mexican themed, distressed, with an accent of some oak heartwood in a pine top.
As mentioned above, the top is SYP with an oak heartwood strip. The pedestal is SYP, which was altered with a scrub plane and then lightly singed with a torch. The finish was shellac followed with Target EM6000 WB lacquer. The edges of the top were carved with a drawknife. It was a real fun project to build!
