This table was supposed to be a refinishing job on a table that my wife had as a child. It had been painted with an “antiquing” kit, which consisted of flat white paint followed by a darker wiping color that filled in the brush strokes. The white paint was really tedious to strip. After getting through the oak top, the rest of the table was in bad shape, so I rebuilt it out of poplar, which is why I painted those parts. I also used new corner plate hardware to attach the legs. The only original part is the lovely oak top. I’m happy with the way it turned out and so is she.
