After seeing some the projects like this on LJ I thought I would try my hand at it. The one on the left is Red Oak 3/4” wide with four coats of poly, the one in the middle is Spalted Maple 1 1/4” wide with four coats of Poly and the one on the right is Maple 3/4” wide with a Ebony stain with four coats of a poly finish as well. All were buffed on the beal system.

Thanks for looking.

That spalted maple looks great! I just got a lathe, will be experimenting with some of this stuff.

I agree with Theresa! The spalted maple one is gorgeous- and so are the other two!

Sweet! I bought a maple burl turning blank, and was wondering what to do with the excess length. No there’s an idea!
