I’ve been following this website for a couple of years now, but this is the first project I’ve felt warranted posting. My son was born 4 1/2 months ago, and I just finished his crib this morning. I based the design on some other cribs that I’ve seen posted here. I guess we’ll see how much he likes it tonight. Most of the joints are mortise and tenon (my first time making those), but I also used a little hardware so that it could disassemble to fit through doorways. The crib is all maple, and the rails are bird’s eye maple. I finished it with a food-grade “wood cream” made here in Bellingham, WA. It is designed for use on cutting boards and other kitchen utensils, but I figured my son would be chewing on the crib, so I better use a safe finish. I’m guessing I put about 120 hours into this project.
