Wanted to build something different that I have not seen before. So Zebra and Pink Ivory board had my number. Most likely one of a kind! It is finished with food grade Mineral Oil. My customer just loves it! Thanks for allowing me to share it with you.

This is very well done and very interesting.

Does the mineral oil darken the wood? I ask because the zebra is darker than what I have seen and worked with.

This is one of the few times I have seen pick ivory used. It is so expensive (over $100/bf). Are these solid pieces of pink ivory that go all the way through? I can only guess at the size but it looks like you could have about 1 bf of pink ivory in this board if it goes all the way through.

I own some pink ivory and I am waiting for that very special project where money is not an issue.

Yes Rich, mineral oil does darken the wood. The more you put on the darker it gets.

Chefdavid, very unusual board, I have never seen Pink Ivory and think it will come in handy for Intarsia projects that calls for pink. Will keep that in mind and keep an eye out for a small piece of this wood. Thanks for posting.

Yes Richgreer the pink ivory goes all the way through and yes it is expensive. I purchased 1×1x12 pieces. At first I was surprise how dark the zebra wood was with the mineral oil, but the more I look at it and let it set the more I liked it. Bearpie, I purchased the pink ivory from, they have a great selection of products!

Very unique and visually effective design. I love the texture as it almost looks like a textile.

Wow! What an interesting pairing of woods. Really unique…

That is out of the box on something so simple.

Thanks for showing this one!
