Marking Gauge

Today I made a layout marking gauge, a simple style with one arm. I think hard wood will be more durable, so I am using a small piece of walnut. (At least I think it is walnut.) These first pics are the basic cuts and assembly. Then it was on to planning the surfaces smooth, chamfering the edges, setting the thread socket, and finally adding the blade. Learning as I go…
