This boot has been long in coming. It is carved from a piece of Amur Cherry.
I had the blank prepared several months back and was stymied with the final detailing. so I shelved the project until my creative juices kicked in. It’s quite easy cutting out a rough boot blank and easier still to rough out the boot. This one took me just under 3 hours to shape and sand. When the grain was exposed I had difficulty in adding detail as the colour and grain pattern were so prominent. So the boot sat on a shelf collecting dust.
It’s good to walk away from a project and let the debris in your head get cleared up. So early last week I brushed off the dust and with a cup of coffee in my hand the thought processes said, Enough is enough. With a final coat of varnish, Bubba came into being. Now that’s a story!
Thank you for looking and for your fine comments.
PS We’ve had a long and snow ridden winter here in Alberta. I need some green grass and green leaves and flowers!
Now it’s back to carving!!!

Always great to see your creations. Do you do most of the sanding with a rotary tool or by hand?
