Armoire done, oh no, not quite!

Finished project, oh no, maybe not.
Finished a very large, red oak armoire for SWMBO. Photos show the final product and what my wife already has stashed in it. She still is deciding where the rest of the shelves go.

Once it was in the house I decided I did not like the drawer front on the bottom, too much difference in the grain pattern. I don’t think it matches well enough soooo, when I get time I’m going to turn out another one that is a better match.

I’m happy with the way it turned out. Made it to match the trim in the rest of the house.

The stain is a mix of three different stains. We were trying to match the old trim that was removed and remade in oak several years ago.

The whole thing was shellacked and several layers of poly put atop that.

Nice job, and I agree with you on the drawer front. When you re-do it, use flat sawn boards. The textured glass is a nice addition, but storing the vacuum cleaner seems a bit of an affront

Greg, I agree about the vacuum cleaner. Demeans the piece a little, doesn’t it? SWMBO called the shot on that one. In fact, the whole project was started because she wanted someplace to put the #$%#^@# thing. We have a pretty petite house and she wanted more room in the closet so I obeyed.
