Garden House

This is a garden house I build for family and friends. The Garden House is made in two sections of 3/4” pine. The first is a sleeve made to fit around the 4X4 post about 12” long. The second is the house its self that fits over the first sleeve and secured to it with stainless steel nails. The first sleeve is secured to the post with 4 stainless steel screws, so the entire house can be taken off when being repaired or painted. All of the trim and joints are glued with waterproof glue and then sealed around the edges with an outdoor caulk then painted. On this house I did use a router to indent some areas. All the trim pieces were scraps from our house. The design came from Garden Houses I saw decades ago at St. James Art Fair in Louisville Ky. The reason its called a Garden House is that the opening has screen on the inside not allowing birds or insects in, while allowing some air flow. They last for years and years if they are maintained properly and add a certain charm to any garden. A fun project that has brought joy every time we walk out our back door.

Thanks for taking your time, Take Care, Joe

Joe, I like this. It makes me smile and is imaginative. There are so many small details that have gone into making this fun to look at. I see an evergreens, corner blocking, doors, a chimney, a porch roof, flower pot. eaves, a fence, and tons of trim. There are just scads of small details to catch the eye, and it is those small details that make this fun to see. Nice work. Thanks for sharing this with us.
