Been forever since I posted I’ll try to catch you all up on what i’ve been doing.

So I was doing a craft show fiddle festival last year and this guy sees my drums and asks me if I can make him this. If any of you do shows you know that 90% of the folks are always asking if you can make something and talk about it then it never turns into anything. Well as you can see it all worked out woot woot.

It measures 24”x22”x50”, the tones are really amazing. The client was a therapist and wanted a drum to have his patients lay on the side while he plays it. Soooooo of course before I sent it to the client me and the wife had to try it out, WOW so kewl….

Anyway box is cabinet grade cherry plywood, tonges are paduak, and sapele, accents are black walnut and handles are oak. I did a stain strip at the bottom.

Thanks for looking and have a great day

Top 3 project posting for sure.
Really a beautiful piece! Is there a place to go for plans? I’d like to make something, but smaller.

Beautiful “tongue drum” I’ve made several smaller ones, the sound always amazes me.

Thanks all, I’ll try to get a sound snip up tonight, its not very good since I don’t have any real recording equipment LOL.

cmmyakman Don’t really have plans just chicken skrach on a notepad kind of thing, I make a ton of little ones for shows and such and I’ve been thinking about making some plans, maybe I’ll get that together this weekend and let you know.

PaulDoug yes they sound awesome, when I have a stressful day at work i come home and beat on one and the tones just sooth my soul

This is a wonderful instrument and you have done a beautiful job on it. I’d love to hear it played.

Not familiar with these but it looks like it will make a heck of a sound. Looks cool.

thanks Brian, when you are sitting at it the sound comes straight out and up so the video just doesn’t do it justice. At least it gives an idea LOL have a good one

Thanks, and no problem. I like doing the sketchup models to see if I’m gonna have issues when I go to make it.
