These 2 pieces of Red Oak were laying about a year after a timber crew cleaned up some blowdowns.

LOVE IT! I have a pile of round hemlock slabs and some maple trunk pieces sealed up and drying – I am anxiously waiting to do something similar. How did you attach the bottom to the top?

yea these are the pieces i love to see…taking nature in its simplest form and letting it shine…i have quite a few slabs here waiting to be made into similar types of tables…i have one huge slab…it was so heavy i had to drag it down the road to the house…i was alone and could not lift it…so i cabled it and dragged it..lol…luckily i was not far from the house…...ill send you a few pictures …...but good job…

Rivergirl, This one is connected with 1-inch Dowel Rod and Glue on three sides angled through the bottom piece to the top. I don’t like to use any screws or lags when possible. Kind of my own unwritten rule. My inspiration comes from Dick Proenneke!!
