Happy Labor Day! After cleaning the gutters at my Pop’s house… Leaf blowing my back patio (twice)… Watching some Tennis and Golf on TV… I finally made it out to my shop to play. I ended up with this Ringed Bud Vase. I call it “ringed” because it has a floating “ring” that is my 1st attempt at one. Hey… it worked! Found the insert at the local Dollar Tree… Came in a package of 4. I think they are supposed to be shot glasses… but they are better suited as part of my Bud Vase :o) Finished up with friction polish. I’m not sure what kind of wood it is. Came from a tree in our back yard that I trimmed early this summer. When I find out… I will update the post. Enjoy your day and don’t forget to play!

Thanks folks! / Just started whittling… (with my lathe tools of course) and you see the end result. I did finally figure out what type of wood it is. Came from a Curley Willow or Corkscrew Willow or Pekin Willow or Hankow Willow or the “Scientific” name of: Salix Matsudana Tortuosa. Wow… That is some kind of fancy dancy tree! Guess I better give it a little more respect the next time I trim the dickens out of it :O) No matter what you or I choose to call it… I sure like the looks of it. I will try some as an inlay with some darker wood to see how it turns out. Keep Smiling and making little wood out of big wood!—Bogie

Nice project, and nice first ring. I really like the detail on this one, and dollar tree is great for that kind of stuff, so is goodwill stores. :)
