Went to my 45th high school reunion at New Bedford HIgh in New Bedford, Mass. in August and someone I knew back in the day gave me this embroidered patch back. It was my “letter” for playing clarinet (yep a woodwind ;0) ) in band/orchestra all through high school. I had forgotten all about it. After putting it in a drawer for a couple of weeks, I thought it might be neat to display it in a way that would protect it too. I made a frame/case out of shop scraps by mitering the corners and cutting a 3/16 groove in all four sides about 1/4” up from the back to accept an oak veneered bit of plywood for backing and structure. I also rabbeted 1/4×1/4” around the front edge to accept a piece of glass. The piece was stained in “Special Walnut” by MIn-wax and finished with satin varithane. The sides are 1/2” thick by 1 1/2” wide by 10 3/4” long. The last picture has the glass in it.
