Wow, these are really nice! About how big are the stars? I think the font is very cool.
She paints walnut, she varnishes poplar. What is the world coming to? :)

Somebody is going to have a well decorated Christmas tree. Your star is really nice. Hmmm, painting Walnut, varnishing Poplar – you just may have become a “free spirit” MsDebbie :-)). Oh, BTW Chip – I made that up about painting the walnut – nobody would really do that.

These are just great Deb. Beautiful work. The only thing that might have made them look better is if you had made them out of… oh, nevermind, I just remembered that you used up all the walnut on that painted piece. arrrrg ;-)

hahahaa lol lol :)
you are too funny “I love walnut and apparently Deb does not…) hahaha
I do love walnut; walnut is my friend… but not on a scrollsaw. I made my grand-daughter’s puzzle out of walnut and it was SO hard to work with.
It did work nicely on the bandsaw though…. for .. well, some other project that I did…

Debbie
I think you are in great company with painting walnut.
Remember my project http://lumberjocks.com/projects/935
I don’t really think I have recovered yet, but my wife loves it.
And you are the star of this site.

the scroll saw was my tool of choice when I started this exploration of woodworking last January.
I had fun making my first projects and then I took on some more difficult projects and I’ve had fun… and now, I find myself going back to the scroll saw. The right wood and the right thickness for my abilities really makes it a pleasurable experience. (The piece of poplar I picked up was heavenly to work with. )
Yes, I think I’ll be doing more and more work such as this.
So now, I just need to find some more wood that is right for me and get myself some more patterns. (as soon as I finish my little fern box that is…)

Great looking star! Don’t forget that you can do just about any pattern that you can print just by tracing onto the workpiece…
