Gift for a friend...

I became inspired after looking at LJ buddy Airspeed's post of a beer crate for a friend. I had a stick of Western cedar in the WoodShack that needed a purpose in life, and it was just enough to take up a couple days of my time. The artwork was burnt using my new laser toy and finished with a water-based poly, per the advise of the finishing Guru Charles Neil, in order to retain the natural beauty of the wood. So, grab yourself a cold one, we all deserve it…..

Looks nice, Marty. It also looks like you’ve mastered your laser toy. The burnings look very sharp.

The carrier looks great, but do you really let friends drink Miller Lite? Tell me it isn’t so. Grin.

Nice work.

Aaron, I don’t use anything fancy, I put together what I want in Microsoft paint, then move it to T2Laser software for the burning…..

I just can’t figure which part of gift made him more happy : beer or the crate. Nice sign work with CNC.

Marty, it is good to see your work again. I like the use of the laser on this project. It makes the carrier something special. I especially like the leaves around the handle holes. That is a nice touch and looks like something craftsmen of old would have added to their work. Great to see that you have mastered the use of the laser and have put it to such good use in your shop.

Marty, nice work on the beer case and a nice gesture. Your laser work makes me wish I had one. It really adds a nice touch!

Very cool Marty. You’re producing some very nice work with that little laser of yours.

I like everything about it, except for what you put in it.

Friends don’t let friends drink Lite beer :^P
