This is probably my best work so far. I built this fireplace mantel out of African mohagany and finished it with General Finish’s java gel stain and clear laquer and furniture wax finish for the mantel top. I first built a subframe for the columns and attached the finished panels to the subframe. It was then just a matter of trimming it out with various pieces of trim and crown molding all of which I also made from stock material using my router table and table saw to cope the crown molding.

Very nice work. It has great lines and proportions. Beautiful wood and finish.
