July, 2010 – Well, I had these boards from an old weathered pallet, so i decided to plane them enough to accept glue and glue them together. It sat for awhile, because I really had no idea what to make out of it. Then I happened to be in a craft store and noticed they were blowing out some clocks at heavily discounted prices. So I bought one and decided to make this.

The design of it is just something that popped into my head. My friends say it looks like a fish. OK, but I was not trying to make it look like a fish. Funny how stuff happens. The clock cut out was done on the band saw. Turns out the plastic wood filler jug is exactly the right size for this click, so I had a nice circle to guide my cutting.

I applied a light oil-base Minwax stain, and then a few passes with a spray can of Semi-Gloss Lacquer clear. If I knew if would have turned out this nice, I would have used better wood!

Art, I just looked through all the lastest posting. Great looking scrap boxes, and this is a nice use of an old pallet. Love finding thos small things on a clearance and seeing what they can be used for.
Thanks for sharing.
