I made a large pixel Link from The Legend of Zelda for February's Art of Geek Challenge (its’ a monthly geek-themed maker challenge). He’s created from scrap 1/2” plywood. I used a router with a v-groove bit to make it look like the pixels are individual squares.

I made a wooden pixel Mario last year but with that build I cut each individual pixel, routed every edge and then glue all the squares back together again. It was a long and tedious project. Details on pixel Mario can be found here.

I made a build video for Link and I also have a written tutorial for it on my woodworking blog.

Overall I’m pretty happy with how Link turned out. If I had the time I’d love to make a huge pixel scene.

Very unique and well done.

I enjoy—out of the “normal” projects!

Well done.

Everything about this makes me happy. Should we expect a wooden pixel Triforce anytime soon?

The Mario was really cool but you raised the bar even higher on Zelda

Interesting how cool this looks. At first I thought every piece was separate then glue together. I agree, I would call this a piece of art.
